Allen was kind enough to stop by and let me try on an Odin Air4.X in XL last fall. I absolutely loved the material and feel of the suit, but unfortunately, being broad in the shoulders, it was a little too constrictive for me. I immediately put in an order for a 2XL in hopes that the rest of the suit, which fit perfectly, wouldn’t be too upsized.
I received the suit within days of the container arriving in Canada and got it on the water. The fit, which worried me some because I’d lost a few pounds since trying on the XL, is actually perfect for me. Once burped, and with my PFD over it, the suit actually has excellent mobility due to its paddler-designed cut. Unlike other suits I’ve owned, walking / portaging in it is extremely comfortable with no annoying pulling in the gusset or limitation of leg movement.
The material sits in a goldilocks zone of not so thick as to be abrasive or heavy, but not so thin as to feel fragile and cold. It looks and feels like it will handle abuse without being an oven in the spring transition temperatures or an icebox in cooler temps. I paddled it in windy and wet 12*c weather, with water in the lower single digits. Wearing only my thin merino base layer I was comfortable, warm, and DRY!!! I did a couple roll tests – mostly intentional – and was bone dry after 3 hours on the water. One could say that shouldn’t be a surprise with a brand-new suit, but I’ve owned suits that cost significantly more and have been surprised in more unpleasant ways.
I went with Kaituna for both my suit and Guardian PFD. I’m a fan of red, and will probably get the drytop in Inferno, but this blue-on-blue suit looks awesome. The only think I miss from any of my other suits is a belt, which comes in handy during warmer portages. I also have to trim down the neck gasket a little as it’s high and I have a thick, short neck.
I can’t say enough good things about this suit. Similarly, the service from YipYak was, as always, above and beyond!!!

I’ve had this drysuit for about three seasons now, and it’s been great. I’m 5’11” and went with a large, which fits perfectly. I’d always used front-zip suits before and was skeptical about mobility with a back zip, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised. The range of motion is great, and the overall cut of the suit is natural and comfortable. After three seasons, it’s still holding up really well, which makes me especially happy given the value – I’ve owned more expensive drysuits that didn’t last nearly as long. Overall, I’m very happy with the drysuit and would definitely recommend it.
