We have a limited supply, please contact us to order these new skirts from Hiko.
“87” means the optimum cockpit size is 87 cm (34.2 in.) The actual recommended range is 82 cm (32.2 in.) > 92 cm (36.2 in.) however.
This deck will fit most creek boats out there, it equivalent to the XL cockpit size for IR and 1.7 size for Seals. Please message us if to confirm if this skirt fits your boat.
Sensei for those who mastered the craft of running white water. For those who often redefine the craft itself by drawing lines most of us don’t even see. Forget pushing the limits; just keeping up with them is becoming very calculated by the sheer risk exposure the athletes are willing to take. That is exactly how we approached the design of the Sensei skirt. Through careful observation and learning we fine-tuned every detail of this skirt to create the perfect bond between you and your boat.
- Optimized rand design provides the perfect equilibrium of stretch and hold. Its hollow core reduces weight and provides enough flexibility to an otherwise very durable and UV resistant EPDM rubber profile.
- StoneBase 4.0 Delta e.prene on the periphery of the skirts serves as an abrasion-resistant barrier. Delta foam is stiffer to support the durability of the Stone nylon laminated on top.
- To enhance the durability of the edges of the skirt even further we use special coating called the Tedate, named after the shields of the ancient Japanese warriors. The coating makes that part of the skirt virtually indestructible.
- The center of the skirt is made from DuraBase 4.0 Alpha. The Dura nylon is also abrasion resistant but maintains more stretch thanks to its unique construction. Alpha foam has a higher stretch that further enhances the ability of the skirt to absorb a massive amount of impact on both explosion and implosion.
- Silicon coating is applied on the bottom of the skirt to support the rand in critical straight flat sections of the cockpit.
- The bright yellow loop is reinforced with tubing for better grip and reinforced T-bar won’t let your hand slip when you need to get out.
- The soft and stretchy neoprene waist tunnel allows you to breathe freely. It is finished with a conical strip with a smooth skin on the inside to keep the tunnel in place.

I have to being by giving full props to both Hiko and YipYak on my experience with the Sensei spray-deck.
I ordered from among the first batch that was available in Canada. Unfortunately, it was one in a small batch that had some temperature fluctuations when the tape was fitted, and the tape released. Allen contact Hiko and the skirt was promptly replaced.
I’ve gotten several outings on the new skirt, and have had no issues whatsoever. It is built from sturdy materials and the quality is evident in both feel and visual inspection. At this price-point, you should expect top-shelf build and performance. This is easily the driest skirt I’ve used. My last outing consisted of 5-hours non-stop at the park practicing in holes and doing stern-stalls. My Skuxx literally had a couple tablespoons of water in it at the end of the session. What I’ve really come to appreciate with this skirt is the rubberized trim at the top of the tunnel, which creates an extra level of seal when using it with a rashguard. It’s easy to keep a well-fit tunnel watertight with an additional layer of protection over it from a drysuit or drytop, but my experience has been that other skirts let water in when you’re paddling in warm weather gear. The Sensei does a great job keeping water where it’s supposed to be – outside the boat. The extra flap of material that extends around the cockpit rim as a nice added touch. The abrasion pads that go around its circumference are heat-pressed on – in theory they will help protect the deck against hits and wear, but how long they will stay on there is a question only time can answer.
The rand is middle-of-the-pack stiff. It’s not as elastic as the Seals or IR rands, not crazy stiff like the L6 Class 6 rand. It has a seam joint at the back that’s worth paying attention to from time to time. I got the XL deck. It fits perfectly on my Waka, but takes some effort. On my Dagger, it almost feels loose, but once on it has extremely good hold. XL is a safe bet for multiple boats.
Overall, I’m extremely impressed by the skirt and the service I’ve received from both Hiko and Allen.
