Level Up: Intermediate Whitewater Development

Redefine your technique, engage big muscle groups, and make pushy water feel effortless.

• Duration: 4 Session (2 Weekday Evenings + 1 Full Weekend)

  • Monday & Tuesday Evening (6:00 PM – 8:00 PM @ YipYak Shop): Flatwater & moving water drills on the Seymour River.

  • Saturday & Sunday (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM): Full-day river sessions on technical Class III water.

• Location:

  • Mon/Tues Evenings: YipYak Shop (Seymour River)

  • Weekend: Flexible / TBC based on flows—Chilliwack, Mamquam, or Cheakamus rivers.

• Prerequisites: Intermediate paddlers with solid Class III river running experience and a reliable combat roll.

• Gear Requirement: Bring your own whitewater kayak setup or reserve fleet gear through us.

Course Overview

Taking your paddling to the next level isn’t about charging harder—it’s about paddling smarter. Level Up is designed to break down your technique on flat and mild moving water, re-tooling your stroke mechanics to use core and lower body engagement rather than muscle power.

We then take those refined mechanics into real Class III whitewater so you can execute dynamic, fluid lines on pushy, technical features.

What You’ll Work On:

Weekday Evenings: Precision & Biomechanics (Seymour River)

• Core & Torso Rotation: Shift away from arm-heavy strokes and learn to drive the boat using major muscle groups for explosive power with less fatigue.

• Edge & Body Separation: Fine-tune hull control, stability, and weight transfers on flatwater drills.

• Micro-Adjustments: Correcting subtle stroke habits to maximize efficiency and acceleration out of eddies.

Weekend Immersion: Dynamic River Running (Chilliwack / Mamquam / Cheakamus)

• Carving Pushy Current: Using dynamic edging and speed momentum to cross heavy seams and boil lines without getting window-shaded.

• Technical Moves Made Easy: Mastering boof timing, jet-ferrying across wide channels, and catching tight micro-eddies on high-volume or steep rivers.

• Building Real River Confidence: Transitioning from reactive paddling to proactive line selection in Class III features.
