Shred every wave with the Eclipse – a hybrid between a cruiser and a high-performance short boat, it planes fast, carves harder and can be surfed finless or with single, twin, or thruster fins. Easy to set up and comfortable to paddle. Built tough from rotomoulded plastic, it takes the hits. At home on a tide race, river wave, or in the ocean surf, the Eclipse blurs the line between surf and river kayak — the perfect playboat for every quiver. Born from Palm’s surf heritage and Hobson’s cutting-edge design, this collaboration brings together two names known for quality and innovation.

Richard Maggs –
“Hey bro can I try that Hobson?? It looks sick!!” – The catchphrase from our recent trip to skookumchuck narrows. Wild and wide smiles creeping across peoples faces as they spin, carve, and green grind across the wave as it morphs from foamy monster to fast glass and everything in between. In short this boat is fast, intuitive, versatile, and forgiving in a way that few people ever describe surf kayaks. Maybe my 5 star review of this boat is coloured heavily by the fact that I was surfing one of the world’s greatest features with it but I digress. The outfitting that comes in this boat is easily adjustable and more comfortable than any other surf boat that was present this weekend. We were surfing without the fins in which left us free to flatspin across the wave and kept edges forgiving as the pit of the wave got foamy so there was no fear of the turbo windowshade that aggressively edged boats are so well known for. The edges were still enough to carve at lightning speed across the face of the wave as it greened out and left other playboaters looking envious of the Eclipse’s ability to surf in all conditions. While other boaters were waiting for the perfect foampile to catch a ride the Eclipse could be paddled on in the glassiest of conditions, maximizing surf time on a wave with a relatively short surfing window and long line. It even paddles well through the tour and rolls far easier than any carbon surf kayak I have used; Largely due to the comfortable outfitting. A must have for any skook trip and the most fun I’ve had in a kayak without getting airborn.
