Alan Gibson –
We love this boat for what we bought it for. We use it on rivers up to class 3. Nantahala and below. It’s super stable with a flat bottom that provides unmatched initial stability. The edges engage well to carve into and out of eddies. The rocker is great for a balance of maneuverability and tracking. It works best with paddlers under 150lbs for the front seat. It still paddles well with small kids in the front. I can paddle it like a long river runner with a child in the front and still have lot of fun. We also use it for flat water but of course it’s a little slow. It’s fun in the Florida springs poking around looking at wildlife. The outfitting is ok but the thigh hooks could use an updated. The seat is nice and hip pads are adequate. It seems ridged enough end to end but I think I would be nervous on bigger water where pins are possible. The lack of center pillars or a bottom rail might become an issue if you get wrapped. Don’t waste your money on the kids seat package. We didn’t find it useful. The plastic seems super strong but flexes when I put weight on my hands entering and exiting. It rolls much easier than I expected it to and won’t be an issue if you have a good roll. Of course it’s heavy but all tandems are. We plan to own this a long time and it looks like it will last us as long as we need it. No regrets!
